- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆horrible serviceBy Jillian Hamilton, September 05, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆The staff at the New Providence Post Office are truly incompetent and uncaring. I recently mailed two packages via First Class mail with tracking confirmation. The packages were given to a clerk named Tara. I have a receipt confirming that the packages were accepted by the clerk at the post office. However, once given to Tara the packages seem to have completely disappeared from the tracking system. The tracking system says Accepted at post office and then nothing more. The packages are supposedly in transit but obviously haven't been delivered. I called and spoke to the manager Cynthia Moore. She was the rudest manager I have ever dealt with. I couldn't believe she was actually in charge. No wonder her staff are the way they are. Cynthia Moore seemed more concerned with protecting herself and covering up any incompetence on behalf of her staff, then helping me track down my packages. She treated me with a complete lack of respect. Her response was if a package is lost by her staff, even if there is tracking confirmation clearly indicating that a package is lost and even though the package is sent first class, there is nothing she can do. I know of no other business who will not refund a loss when it is clear through their own tracking system that they have misplaced a package. This is simply wrong. Whether a package is sent via media mail or next day priority the post office has an obligation to deliver their mail. And First Class mail is not the cheapest route. If they do not, and there is clear proof that they have not, they need to be held accountable. Any reputable organization should want to make things right for the customer when they are clearly in the wrong, instead of hiding behind the statement "you didn't send it priority so its your own fault." It is not my fault. I brought the packages to you. It is your business and your responsibility to deliver them. That is why you were hired. Of course, the post office has no incentive to deliver if every time they make a mistake they can say: well if you didn't send it Priority or if you don't have insurance, you're out of luck. Insurance and Priority should be for high value items with a time sensitive nature; for most people it doesn't make financial sense for small items and if the only way you are going to deliver something is if it is sent Priority, well then maybe you should just tell customers that is your policy up front. I think it is high time for the post office to be accountable for their actions. They seem to be charging more and more with less service. Cynthia Moore's treatment of people is truly a disgrace.By Veronica, August 15, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆McManus & Associates was one of three legal firms recommended to us by TIAA to update our wills. We called the firm in August of 2015 and had a phone consultation with John McManus who informed us that a $5000 payment (about 85% of the full cost) was due up front, but that the price came with yearly reviews of our legal needs. We paid the price confident in the recommendation and the promise of good service from an established firm. The wills delivered to us were standard, long (65 pages), and included many provisions that did not apply to us. The firm set up a date for us to sign the papers before we were satisfied with the products. We requested that the wills be simplified and that the bulk of the legal language be removed. The lawyer who worked with us (Ben Carthew) was accommodating but after months of discussions by phone and one face-to-face meeting, it eventually became clear that the firm would not simplify everything we asked for reasons not explained beyond “You will need this.” We also learned that any future reviews leading to will changes would be billed, and in keeping with their full service promise, they claimed that they would work with our heirs to make sure that all the wills’ provisions were understood, which we took to understand that they were seeking future fees from our survivors. We walked away from the contract dissatisfied with both the products and service. We post this to inform others of our experience with McManus & Associates.By Sonia Gilbert, July 06, 2017
